OLUDENIZ

Arriving at Oludeniz is a breathtaking experience. The spectacular journey up through the pine forests and mountains, peaking at the summit, and turning a corner to view the vast aquamarine Mediterranean seaside with its sweeping white sandy beach and famous Blue Lagoon guarantees that visitors gasp at the awesomeness of it all.

Oludeniz is undoubtedly the most famous beach in Turkey and the archetypal picture-postcard location. Many of the photos, of this area of outstanding natural beauty and official conservation area, are taken whilst paragliding from the summit of the enormous Babadag Mountain as the absolute beauty can only be captured fully from the skies above.

The seaside itself, famous for its shades of turquoise and aquamarine, is an official blue flag beach. Oludeniz is frequently rated among the top 5 beaches in the World and Europe's leading beach location by travellers and visitors who come here.

When visiting Oludeniz beach the extensive seafront promenade serves as the perfect place for relaxing and people watching. Oludeniz is full of fashionable visitors enjoying the array of great quality restaurants serving delicious meals both Turkish and International. Its trendy bars and cafes are original and colourful temptingly offering a huge range of refreshments and snacks.

The architecture in Oludeniz has been designed and built in the local style, low rise, set in villa-style buildings with decorative wooden balconies dripping in bright coloured foliage. The amazing Turkish climate is the perfect atmosphere for palm trees and stunning tropical flowers which line the streets of Oludeniz and are a delight to see everywhere you go.

Alongside the beach and dining facilities, Oludeniz offers visitors the chance to go sailing, diving and paragliding as well as visit the neighbouring islands, beautiful bays and secret coves. Not everyone is aware but, from Oludeniz there is a glorious 500 kilometre 'Lycian Way' walk which leads up through the beautiful pine clad hills eventually reaching ‘Olympos’ where the views of the surrounding splendour is well worth the trek. Oludeniz is proud to say that this hiking activity has been voted one of the top ten walks in the World.

The boats depart from the beach front every morning at 10am for day trips of sailing, swimming, snorkelling and relaxing. The captain and crew happily take passengers around the surrounding coastline stopping at beaches, bays, islands and coves serving fresh, delicious BBQ food for lunch and offering ice cream and drinks all day long.

Top class diving agencies are available in Oludeniz to offer daily and weekly diving classes and tours around the gorgeous coastline. These activities are for both beginners and experienced divers, registered diving certificates can also be presented to divers from these companies. This area of the Mediterranean Sea is renowned as a popular and exciting place to dive and explore; there are caves and historical underwater ruins as well as the unusual marine creatures waiting to be discovered.

For some, visiting Oludeniz is purely about the thrill of paragliding from the highest paragliding summit in Europe. Babadag Mountain’s launch area is 2000 metres above sea level with the amazing views of Oludeniz below. The landing and greeting area for paragliders from Babadag takes them right back into the heart of the beachfront promenade to relax and, straight away, share their experience with other gliders. This is not just a professionals’ activity as tandem flights can be taken with qualified instructors, people of all ages have tried this extraordinary activity time and time again.

Just along the coast, accessible from Oludeniz beach by regular water taxi service, the beautiful Butterfly Valley can be discovered. While Oludeniz is a place with a vibrant atmosphere and vast choices of establishments, Butterfly Valley is a natural paradise experience with little having changed in the history of its existence. There is a stunning white beach and the turquoise waters of Oludeniz Bay in unbelievable lush surroundings waiting for visitors to come for a picnic and camp under the stars for the night. The valley still boasts a large numbers of amazing butterfly species which thrive in the peaceful tranquillity of the surrounding hills, tender waterfall and tropical foliage.

The feeling of a family friendly atmosphere in Oludeniz is apparent immediately. Children are welcome in every establishment and there are lovely modern parks for them to play in with other children. The local people enjoy interacting with visitors and are equipped with great advice of things to do and where to go outside Oludeniz.
